CORE

The CORE is responsible for facilitating and managing the scientific agenda and research operations of the MTN, from concept development to protocol review and approval, and from study conduct to dissemination of results and publication. The CORE is also responsible for logistical and administrative support for the MTN Executive Committee (EC). The CORE’s specific operational responsibilities include:

Leadership and Governance Support

The CORE makes recommendations, provides logistical and administrative support for committees, maintains and distributes the MTN Manual of Operations and produces regular and ad hoc Network reports.

Research Management and Support

The CORE provides support for the protocol specialist and the CORE pharmacist and assists the US Regulatory Affairs Branch/Regulatory Compliance Center (RAB/RCC) in the distribution of safety information to MTN sites.

Community Programs

The CORE supports partnerships between the community and researchers focused on research design, implementation, and dissemination of study information.

Communication and Information Dissemination

The CORE Information Technology Department develops and maintains the MTN web site and email alias lists.

The CORE External Communications Director develops and coordinates Network-wide communications strategies, materials, and media relations; supports the communications and media relations efforts of clinical research sites by developing and providing relevant training, materials, and related services; and represents MTN’s interests to external groups, civil society and the advocacy community.

Financial Management and Support

The CORE Fiscal Operations Manager is the primary source for all budgetary activities, including evaluating the adequacy of financial resources, collaborating with the OCSO Program Officers, providing guidance to study sites, and implementing budgetary activities in coordination with the MTN Finance Department.
